Pantech C300 Review

The Pantech C300 is the worlds smallest flip phone. This may not seem like much of a boast, since manufacturers always seem to be claiming they have the smallest, or thinnest, or lightest phone, however when a C300 actually arrived here for review we could barely believe our eyes! The phone isn’t just small, it’s absolutely tiny, in fact at first glance you might think it’s a toy phone, it’s really that small. It measures 2.7 x 1.7 x 0.7 inches and only weighs in at 2.5 ounces.

Because it’s so small it will fit into any pocket or purse without you realizing it’s there, even with it’s external antenna. Although the small size of this flip phone makes it difficult to use for many adults, teens and older children will find it just about perfect.

Pantech C300 Features

The cell phone has a 1.5-inch-diagonal (128×128 pixels) internal screen, which supports 65,000 colors and is adequate for scrolling through the simple menus and viewing photos. To be honest it’s too small for playing games, but the C300 is hardly an entertainment phone by any standard.

Below the Pantech C300 screen are the navigation controls as is standard with most cell phones, which for the most part are spacious and tactile for the phone’s size. The four-way toggle doubles as shortcut to the phone book, the downloads and applications folder, the messaging menu, and the instant-messaging application, while the two soft keys give one-touch access to the menu and the camera. Within the toggle is an OK button. The talk and end/power keys are reasonably sized but the dedicated Back/Clear control is way too small.

Dialing is not a problem on the flat set keys, and though texting was tedious, that was more due to the size of the phone rather than the buttons. The keypad buttons also have bright backlighting so that you can dial in the dark. The only controls on the outside of the phone are a volume rocker on the right spine below a covered headset jack.

Other features of the phone include a phone book which holds an impressive 800 contacts with room for three phone numbers, two e-mail addresses, and notes. The Pantech C300 cell phone also comes with one mono ringtone and one MP3 ringtone. Additional features include a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, an alarm clock, a calendar, a memo pad, instant messaging, a voice recorder, a world clock, a calculator, a unit converter, and a stopwatch.

The Pantech C300 is one of the majority of modern cell phones with a camera built-in (very impressive for a phone this size). The camera on this phone is pretty basic, but it’s usable enough in either of it’s two resolutions (640×480 or 128×128) You can also take self-portraits using the external display as a viewfinder.

There are a number of cell phone accessories available, such as cases, car chargers etc.
